This course serves as praxis for examining methods of teaching reading in the elementary school. The course includes atypical and typical language and literacy development in children in the elementary school.

This course examines local and global education/schooling structures through micro-, mezzo-, and macro- level analyses in order to challenge students to critically reflect on economic and socio-cultural structural inequities both in a historical and contemporary context.
